I had one. his name was peanut. He was a very light golden color and very sweet. He was my first dog when I was born, and we had to put him down when I was 20. So he lived a very long time like that one person said up there. As far as I can say, he was one of the best dogs we've owned. :) good luck!!

My friend had one.
He was a very sweet dog. He was great with kids and well behaved. He was easy to train and lived to the age of 17.
He was about 35 pounds and white. Had sort of loose poodle curls but a bit longer. They had him groomed and trimmed pretty regularly. He did not shed much at all.
Over all he was a great pet when her kids were little.
They got him from a shelter.

The ONLY place to get a mutt is a shelter, not a "breeder".
As for this particular mix, my friend used to have one, and gave it away. Honey was this dog's name, and she was really a sweet little mix, but I wouldnt recommend her for kids. Not only was she very fragile, she was very excitable, and could nip.
With kids that young, a larger dog is a better option.

Let's see...I've dealt with Cocker spaniels and poodles. As you've said, this is a mutt. Start researching a poodle's personality and a cocker spaniel's. A "cockopoo" will have the personality of one or the other. You may get a "cockapoo" that sheds like a cocker but acts more like a poodle. It's a guessing game.

Because this is technically not a breed, but a mix, it's nearly impossible to have some sort of standard of temperament. With mixes, you really never can tell. Your best bet is to research the two breeds in the mix (in this case, cocker and poodle) and assume that your dog will posess the best and worst qualities of both.
And, I urge you to seek this mix in a shelter or rescue. Responsible breeders do not intentionally breed mixes, and most breeders of designer dogs are terribly unscrupulous people who care more about lining their pockets than they do for the dog.

My friend has a cockapoo and he's a very friendly, lovable and cute dog. He has a lot of energy, and loves people. I think they'd make great family dogs. They're good with kids and I'd say they are good friends. Her cockapoo is very attached to his family. Each individual dog varies however, but I think a cockapoo would make a great family pet.
