…potty train them but it didnt work. We are forced to keep them outside in a pen that we built because we already had to replace the carpet in my children`s playroom. Any ideas on how to potty train them? We can start using the garage (it has a rug) and then once they master that, move into the house. Ideas?

    I highly recommend crate training.
And make sure you feed them on a schedule. Don’t leave food out all day for them to eat “whenever” they want.
Read the link below for potty training and crate training help.

I had some similar problems as you when trainging my puppies. I have had some great success learning from this site: (see source).
Your idea to start in the garage is not a bad idea.
Just remeber get your dog trained needs quite a bit of effort but it is well worth it.
    Good Luck

This can be a hard habit to break. Potty training can take quite a bit of patience especially in small puppies who have small bladders. They need to be taken out frequently and praised immensely when they potty. Scolding doesn’t often work well because they realize by your tone of voice that you’re angry but they don’t put two and two together. Try keeping you’re dogs on a leash when they are inside that way they can not wander into another room without you. I know this sounds crazy but dogs are pack animals and they want to be with you. Chances are when they are getting up and walking away they are going to go relieve themselves. Take your dogs out the same door and to the same place everytime so they know exactly where you want them to go.

The best way to potty train a dog is with a crate. In most cases they will not go in the crate due to the fact they don’t like to be where they have gone potty. You need to treat them like puppies all over again. The need to go outside on a regular basis. Make sure you keep an eye on them at all times when you are home. If you have to tie them to you then that is what will need to be done. Train them to go to the door when they have to go out. Praise them with affection and treats if you would like. You can stay outside with them if you need to, to make sure they have done their business.

well scolding them was your first mistake…you have to be patient with potty training dogs. what seemed to work with my dog as she was younger and peed inside i quick ran her out and gave her a treat and praised her like she was a queen. you have to keep it consistant even if you let it go one time dogs dont understand how come the one time they didnt run me out but other times they did and will be confused on where to go to the bathroom. so my advice to you is to use the garage and run them out everytime and praise them with treats everytime they go, they will eventually get the hang of it.

Well for starters if nobody can watch them then they need to be crated. When nobody is home they need to be crated. another trick would be to put a leash on them and tie it to you then they go everywhere you go and when they start to go you scold them and take them out side!!!
    Good Luck!!

I know it’s hard NOT to scold them if the poop inside,,,but by scolding them it just tells them it’s bad to poop ….what has worked best for me is constantly keeping my eyes on them when inside,,,,when the assume the position of going,,,make NOISE!!!! lots of it,,,distract them…them take them outside & hopefully they will finish outside..by you scolding them when they have an accident they think it’s wrong to go…anywhere..the old saying to wipe there nose in it is WRONG! it just teaches them to hide there poop

potty training any pup takes CONSTANT watching your pup.
EVERY time it wakes up..immediately take it outside.
When it starts to sniff around..immediately take it outside.
Half an hour after feeding…take it ouside.
You can’t just put a pup/s in a house and expect them to go to the door or come whine at your feet. Think of what it took to potty train your children and compund that with the fact that…hey…they are dogs!!! They will NEVER learn unless YOU put serious work into training them. It is not fdair to teh poor pups to be locked out in a kennel because you are lacking in training them properly.
