Help Finding A Good Dog Breed?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
I’m looking to find a good dog breed. Here is what im looking for in this dog:
~ Doesn’t shed
~ Doesn’t bark much
~ Small (Smaller than a cockapoo and bigger than a chiwawa)
~ Gets along well with other dogs/pets
~ Easy to train
~ Doesn’t smell too bad

I would recommend a bichon frise. They are happy, playful, and loving lap dogs. They have a cheerful personality that is easy to live with. Bichon Frise are easy to train and do well around strangers and kids. Just make sure you socialize them early. They need lots of grooming to keep their coat free of mats but if you want to keep the coat short try a puppy cut. By the way, all dogs shed but bichons shed very little! Some bichons can be hard to housebreak but with the proper training they can do fine. They weigh from 7-10 lbs and live up to 17 yrs. with few health problems. Lastly, I would suggest searching petfinder.com or buying from a reputable and responsible breeder. I wish you the best of luck with your new puppy(:
Go directly to Toys R Us and purchase a stuffed or robotic dog.
It’s a dog and NO dog will live up to your expectations. You are not prepared to be a dog owner.Dog’s bark, poop, pee stink, disobey and shed. Unless you can love every minute of it, it won’t work for you and the dog will wind up homeless. Shelters are full of dogs who did not measure up to peoples unrealistic expectations.

A stuffed animal?
Seriously, half the requirements you’ve listed are all based on how much effort YOU are willing to put into training, they’re not breed-specific. If you want your dog to not bark, get along with other pets and be easy to train, you need to, well … train it.
BTW, there’s no such thing as a cockapoo – it’s a mutt, and anyone intentionally breeding them is a backyard breeder and should be avoided like the plague.
And it’s spelled chihuahua. Please do more research before you get a dog. Start at your local shelter – staff should be able to help you find a dog that meets at least some of your requirements. http://www.petfinder.com
Poodles can be pretty yappy if you don’t get after them and teach them to not bark a lot, but they don’t shed because of their hair, they’re incredibly smart and requires regular grooming (because their hair never stops growing) so that will help with smelling bad. Also, a dog who spends most of it’s time inside is always a better smelling dog.
