I suggest you get a Mini Schnauzer. They are super cute, and they have real hair, not fur so they’re hypo-allergenic and rarely shed. They have sensitive skin thought so you’ll have to be up for bathing it and brushing it, and buying good food. (NEVER buy Iams or anything you can get at a grocery store. These dogs are super fun, energetic, and they also like to snuggle.

NO SUCH THING as a ‘cockapoo’, ‘chi-poo’ or ‘doodleman pinscher’ – which are all poodle crosses, by the way, though you said you didn’t like poodles. These are cutesy names plastered on mutts bred by unscrupulous breeders for profit.
Adopting is a great idea … try this website. Just type in your location and the breed you’re interested in, and you’ll find all the dogs available for rescue in your area. http://www.petfinder.com
BTW, ‘easy to train’ and ‘no barking’ has more to do with how much time and effort you put into training, not the actual breed.

Number one. You don’t convince them you talk to them like the adult you are. You ask simply if it would be ok for you and your bf to get a dog while you are living there – doesn’t matter if you are renting it is still THEIR property and THEIR call. If they say no, let it go and move on.
If they say yes you will draw up an agreement with them outline that they will NOT be responsible for this dog in any way and that you and your BF will be. Just like a real rental agreement you will pay for any and all damages by your dog.
Number two – A dog is not a workout motivation tool. You either want to get off your *** and loose weight or you don’t. If you feel you need a dog then you aren’t really dedicated to getting a dog for the best reason.
Number three- if you don’t like poodles why the HELL do you want poodle mixes?

Are you or your boyfriend home during the day to care for a dog? If the dog is yours there should be no need for your parents to have to clean up after your dog. Most dogs are fairly easy to train as long as you invest the time with your dog.
It is your parent’s home. They have the final say. Perhaps you might have to wait until you have your own place if your parents don’t want another dog at their house.

if your going to walk the dog every day rain hail or shine have a look at an american bulldog very smart and loyal dogs train very well and you dont need to worry when you walk in the night thay need alot of time spent with them like a kid have a look on youtube at them top dogs!
