How do you have a 6 week old puppy???? Ohh….mutt….backyard breeder….i see. I would take it back to the breeder and pick it up in at least 2 weeks. Or maybe just take them back and demand my money back because I dont support backyard breeders or puppy mills. Get a dog from a shelter if you want a mix or buy one from a reputable breeder.
For potty training though, I reccomend crate training. Buy a crate just big enough for the dog ro stand up and turn around in, but not too big or he will eliminate inside it. Dogs naturally dont like to eliminate where they sleep, so he will try to hold it in there. also, let him outside to eliminate every hour on the hour. Congratulate and praise him every time he does. If you catch him peeing in the house run over and say NO and lift his bum and quickly rush him outside. If you find a mess but didnt see him doing it, just clean it up.
Six weeks is really to young to be away from the mom, but now that you have it you are the mom. The more time you can spend outside with him the better off training will be. If you have to be inside taking them outside every hour on the hour is what you will have to do for a while. I would get a dog playpen and line the bottom with paper for when you have to be away for easy clean up. then I would get a crate to train it to be in it for when it gets older. Crates are not bad, think of it as a bedroom for a dog and a safe place for them to be. You can put pillows , blankets and their favorite toy to play with. Don’t hit or yell at the puppy remember it is a baby and it never works to hit a baby. Get him lots of toys and chewies he will need them when he starts to teeth and baby proof your house they will put anything and everything they can in their mouths.Make sure you give it the proper food for this breed I don’t know what it is so I would call a vet and ask them. I always pick a song to sing each of my dogs, when they hear it they settle down abit, I use it when they are afraid, like at the vets or thunder outside. Right now this little guy needs lots of love and understanding. Training at this age should be slow and soft. Praise him when he does something right even he smallest of things like peeing outside, he will see this as something that makes you happy and they love us happy. Just be the person your dog thinks you are and Good luck.
How the hell did you get a 6 week old puppy? In some states, that’s illegal. That dog should’ve been with his mother for another two to four weeks in order to develop normally, and anyone who’s too stupid and neglectful to get educated about this very basic information before getting a dog does not deserve to take care of a dog or any other living creature.
So, to make training him easier, I’d say get him back to his mother so he can develop normal social capabilities.
Good luck with your puppy, he’s probably not up to health standards at all thanks to its ignorant punk of a backyard breeder or abusive puppy mill owner who sold it to a pet shop.
aww cute dogg
ok well to start off… go to the store and buy puppy pads than place those next to the doors to go out side and in randome places and u could also try newspaper. than get in the habbit of taking them out side about every 1- 1 1/2 hr and when u take him outside say ‘goo potty” and eveen b4 u take them out side say ”needa go potty?’ he’ll get used to that and figur out wat hes suposed to do . also buy a big bad of treats than when after he poops (out side) give him one. but only when he poops. so he know wat hes getting rewarded for…
good luck
crazy but around 8 walks a day.. keep him close.
if you take him out (and he hasn’t had an accident recently) and he doesn’t “relieve” himself on that walk take him inside for about 10 minutes (don’t let him down) and take him back out again. he should then “do his business”. no more water about 2 hours before bed. and a walk right before night night and again as soon as you wake up. hope this helps
I like to crate train my puppy, which makes potty training much easier.
