How Do I Stop My Dog From Barking So Much?

He didn’t use to bark too much when he was younger but when he barks its reallly loud and squeaky. I dunno why he keeps barking so much.He barks randomly at the air, and sometimes he barks at neighbors. Also he barks at my mom.Hes an 8 year old cockapoo. How do i train him to only bark when necessary?

Re: How I Got My Neighbor’s Dog To Stop Barking!
I recently had a really bad situation involving my neighbor’s dogs and their barking. I work at night and sleep during the day when people usually don’t pay attention to their barking dogs.
I asked my neighbors to quiet their dogs down and they agreed. The dogs are still barking at about the same rate so I am sure that they did not take me seriously.
After weeks of not being able to sleep, I decided to check the internet and found a lot of people that recommended “The Barking Dog CD”.
To make a long story short, I popped the CD into my CD player and the dogs stopped barking almost immediately. As on person stated “I almost fell out of my chair when the dogs stopped barking”. I totally agree with them. It worked like a charm. The website is at http://www.antibarkingdevice.com if you are interested.
This method should also work on your own dog if you are having problems with your dog. I certainly hope that I was helpful to you.

He just wants attention! I have a 14 year old cockapoo, he loves to be around people. He doesn’t like to be home alone for 15 minutes! Once you come back home, he gets all excited n stuff lol But anyway if you want to make him stop barking, talk to him. Tell him it’s okie, and say his name. After awhile, he’ll stop..

Different dogs respond to different training. Just dont yell at it because for some reasons dogs think you are barking with them, or so a trainer told me. With my dog we just put him in his room, yes he has a room, and leave him in there for 20 min. because he doesnt like going in there.

Squirt Guns! Give a command to be quiet, and if he doesn’t obey, SQUIRT! You’ll have to do this often the first day, but by the next day you’ll notice a dramatic improvement.

my dog only barks when there is some one at the door or there is another dog there just start calling its name (this will only work if the dog listens really well)
