I’m Trying To Potty Train My 1 Year Old Female Cockapoo!?

I’ve had my cockapoo since she was 9 weeks old. We started potty training using pee pee pads. She did ok with that but still would go on the floor once in a while. We have been teaching her to go outside now since she was about 4 months old. She goes pee outside but then she’ll come inside and poop. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get her to go to the bathroom outside all the time?? Please help!

maybe you arent giving her enough time outside. u cant bring her in as soon as she goes and thats it. u need to be absolutely sure that she is completely done

I can’t help with training but have to ask – what sort of dog is a cockapoo??

omg! training dogs is so tedious… but i would recommend keeping an eye on her at all times… i have a shih tzu and what worked for me was to just watch her and if she ever crouched to do her business, i would pick her up really fast and take her outside. then she knew that her business was to be done outside… it took a while but she did it…

potty pads train the dog to go INSIDE the house.. period..
you do not let her inside til she poops outside,, after a year , surely you know her schedule….
these mutts/mixed breeds are sometimes hard to housebreak because they come from puppymills, byb who do not rear them well

does she poo in the same place? then put down a newspaper and then slowly move it a day at a time until u have it outside then she will go there.A new paper , not the same one.

All you did was teach your dog to potty in the house! You should never use those dumb things to begin with! Go buy a book on how to train your dog properly like you should have done BEFORE YOU EVEN GOT HER!!!

I had the same problem with my bichon shihtzu, she would pee outside then come in and poop. All you have to do is be patient. By using pee pee pads you encouraged her to go inside, so she still wants to go inside. My advice is to kennel train her. She 4 months so she can be in her kennel for about 5 hours. Feed her and then immedietly out her out side. Whenever she drinks take her out, and when shes done playing take her out. Also if she barks take her out. That way when she is trained she’ll bark so you know she needs to go, if not she’ll become a problem barker. Good luck, and remember to have patience, I can tell you that cause my dog is a few monts older than yours and she still makes some mistakes, but not frequently. Have fun!!
