Is It Okay To Leave A Puppy Alone For 4 Hours A Day, 5 Days A Week?

I’m thinking about getting a Cockapoo and school has started up recently. I would leave for school at 7:15, and I’d get home at 2:10. My mom would be home until 10:00 though, so someone would be home until 10.
Would my puppy be ok?
Would I have to potty train it before I leave it alone?
I heard something about crates, can you explain?
Also, would it be better to wait until the summer, so I could spend a month or two caring for it non-stop, and then once school comes along, he’d be fine?
Please, any additional information would be very appreciated.
PS (to those of you who have Cockapoos) Are Cockapoos hyper?

the pup would be fine and could be crated for that amount of time.
With crate training they sleep in there and take naps in there. You take them out to eat, drink, play, potty, spend time with when you can supervise them. At oher times they should stay in the crate.

Kid-friendly dogs who do well home alone
Many pet owners must leave their pets home alone while they go to work, so Fido must come up with his own unique brand of entertainment to pass the time. Will your kid-friendly dog be bored, experience separation anxiety or just sleep all day? Breed, personal history and training all play a role in determining how your kid-friendly pup will fare on his own.

Puppies are best not left alone for more than 2 hours. Crate training is great for toilet training and many other things. Why don’t you consider adopting an adult dog. They are able to stay alone for more hours and can be wonderful pets.

I Thought Of it but … its best for a puppy to have th upmost attention , im in the same situation except I want a pitbull , so I decided ill just wait for next summer .

Please don’t support the intentional breeding of mutts for profit. You can’t guarantee anything about these mutts and you are just supporting their unnecessary bad breeding.
Theoretically though, leaving a puppy for this long would be okay, as long as it had somewhere to go toilet (like puppy pads, just in case), water, toys, a bed etc, and was let out before your mum left and as soon as you got home.
The waiting for summer idea is good, since you can slowly train it and get it used to being alone.
But please don’t get a “cockapoo”. Cocker Spaniel or a Poodle, if you must, but please don’t buy a “designer” mutt. We shouldn’t support this breeding of mutts for profit, without any care for dog health and well-being, or the reason why dogs are bred, which is purebreds only to better and improve the breed.
