My Puppy Refuses To Poop On His Piddle Pad!?

Hi!
I have an 11 week old male cockapoo that we are piddle pad training. He got down the piddle part within just a few days and only piddles on the pad. He won’t poop on it though! We have him sectioned off in the kitchen and he tends to go behind his crate or in front of the door that leads to the garage. The 3 times he did poop on the pad I praised him and gave him treats then next time he would go it would be on the floor again! When he’s gone on the floor I have scolded him and even picked up the poop and put it on the piddle pad so he would have the scent. Nothing works please help with suggestions! I’ve googled this and can’t seem to come up with any answers, thanks!

dogs like to circle before pooping and also many do a crab like walk when pooping and both move them off the pad. Try covering up a larger area with the pads. FYI: IMHO these pads give dogs permission to go inside and the pads may just end up being a starting point, but it doesn’t mean the rest of the house is off limits.. I also hope you aren’t scolding him after he has done it without you catching him, this may be why he is going behind the crate, to hide it from you.. Take him out more often and when he is most likely to go… immediately upon waking up, after play or as he is slowing down, 15 min. after eating/drinking… and he’s only 11 wks old, he’s a baby, please be patient.

It doesn’t really do any good to scold him. It’s a done deal so he’s not getting it when you do. You are, however, doing the correct thing by praising when he gets it right. I wish you luck. My guy never did learn to poop on the piddle pad. He just learned to hold it until I could take him outside.

its funny that you say that. i know 5 other people having that same problem. our dog also does it. they always use it to potty on and they always poop somewhere else. i was beginning to wonder if any dogs poop on them! i know they are scented to make the dogs want to potty on them. maybe they need to come out with a new one. a poopie pad!!

IT IS A PIDDLE PAD! NOT A POOPOO PAD! THERE IS A REASON FOR THIS!! AND, WILL IT KILL YOU TO TAKE A DOG IN THE GRASS EVERY NOW AND THEN? COME ON!
    THATS JUST PURE LAZINESS!
WHAT THE HECK IS A COCKAPOO??

Potty pads of any kind don’t work 99% of the time. Stick to traditional outdoor training.
