Our 4 Month Old Cockapoo Thinks The Wee Wee Pad Is A Toy, What To Do?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
Our little Roxci or Foxci still deciding on the name thinks that the wee wee pad is a chew toy and she shreds it up. I am using the crate training method however how can I encourage her to go if she wants to play with it?

IF you are dead set on using the pads you will need to either buy a holder or tape them down… trouble is my goldens chewed up the tape too.
Inside potty training has special issues so I prefer training to the outside.
I have blog on housebreaking.. http://golden-joy.blogspot.com
from there you can link to my store for products for clean up etc. i suggest buying a handheld carpet cleaner for messes.
How are you using the “crate training method” if you expect her to go on pee pads? The two do not go together.
Throw the pads away. You will have a difficult time training her to go outside later (when she is older, since I am assuming you are using the pads because you can’t let her out often enough).
Have a neighbor or hire someone to come let her out during the day.
Ditch the Wee Pads, they’re totally useless. All you’re doing is encouraging her to potty in the house, which is against the whole meaning of potty training.
Just put the dog on a schedule – if you know when she eats and drinks you’ll know roughly when she’ll have to go. Here:http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?…http://www.perfectpaws.com/pupstuff.html
My dog did the same thing before I realized that those pads are a total waste. When he was really young I’d put one in the crate but he’d shred it up and make a huge mess. I think the only thing those pads are good for is confusing the dog. Going potty should be an exclusively outside activity.
Train her to go outside. Many dogs are not paper traineable because of the problem you are having.
