My 3 year old cockapoo has used the “potty” all over my room…my family tries to keep a watch especially on my room, because it seems to be her favorite spot to have “accidents”. However, she is so sneaky she will be in and out of my room in probably 40 sec. flat. i absolutely hate the smell… and when my bedroom door has been closed a little while… it’s horrible!!! The stains are nasty to… can’t stand them! I even rented a carpet cleaner once and it worked… for like 4 days. The stains started to come back through. All in all I need something that will get up the stain and the smell. And a little info on housebreaking…keep in mind she is 3 and I just don’t know how to teach her better now. Help… anybody?!?!
(We have tried training her to a bell and it just didn’t work)!

Okay, what you want to do is get either a carpet cleaner or a steamer to get those stains out. Pet stains are especially hard to get out. If you’re tight money wise, you can try mixing up some white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and applying it to the spot. If you put baking soda on the stains and leave it a while, it should do some good odorwise. Just vacuum up the baking soda after you’re done. If the scent is still there, the dog will feel compelled to mess there again.
You may end up spending hundreds of dollars on commercial cleaners ans stain removers, or you might have to ultimately buy a new carpet if your dog does not stop this. She actually should have been trained as a puppy, but now is just a good time as any.
If the pee stains are big, if probably means that she couldn’t hold it in any longer. First off, walk her more. She should be getting at least half an hour of exercise a day. This should ‘empty’ her out, leaving nothing to mess your room up with. If the pee stains are small, she might have just have a habit of going in your room.
Catch her in the act. Whenever you walk in on her in your room doing her business, clap your hands really loud and say ‘NO’. This should stop her mid-pee. Take her outside and wait for her to start again. When she finishes, praise her and pet her saying ‘GOOD DOG’. If you do this enough, she’ll eventually get the idea.
You might want to close your bedroom door, that’s a sure fire way to keep her out. Wee wee pads that you buy at a pet store can also be a good way to keep her accidents under control. She’ll pee on the pads if she feels like she needs to go.
Ok, well our yorkshire terrier did that too, and we couldn’t figure out why he was going to the bathroom in the same place, because it smells the “bathroom”. What you should do is go to a pet store and get Nature’s Miracle, or mix vinegar and water, put it on the stain, and the dog won’t potty on that spot anymore.
I know its expensive ($300) , but I have the same problem with my dog and I went to the HOOVER store and bought a carpet cleaner, even if I am away all day at work and he poops, it cleans it right up even if the stain is set in. If you do that, use their pet odor cleaner they have when you purchase the carpet cleaner.
Go to your local U-Haul and rent their carpet steamer… I have white carpet and it pulled all the stains out of my carpet after my dog had a case of the runs.
2 day rental is like 30 bucks plus 10 bucks for the pet stain remover.
Crate train her and keep her out of your room until she can be trusted. Nature’s Miracle or Odo Ban will get rid of the smell.
Hi well i can offer a little help. Mix peroxide, baking soda and a teaspoon of dish washing detergent in a bottle and spray on all of your stinky stains. It brings the smell and the odor up all you need to do is vacum it away. As far as potty training. Block off all your rooms and keep your dog in a room that your in keep food and water up. Feed on a schedule and put on a chain outside after eating for about 30 mins. Keep doing this, sit and watch and when she uses the bathroom outside say good girl go potty or something of that since and say the same thing everytime pet her maybe give her a very small treat and let her back in. She will get the routine, older dogs are the easier ones to train rather then a puppy.
