I Have A 7 Year Old Cockapoo With Aggression Issues. I Have Tries Everything .?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
Behaviorists, medications, training etc. We adopted him 3 years
ago. Essentially, he bites under ciertain circumstances: If we try to
take away something he has that does not belong to him, he’ll growl and bite. He will do this when he is resting and doesn’t want to be bothered. We have learned to manage the situation in that we know the circumstances where he will bite and we avoid these situations.
We tried prosac which turned out to be a disaster, he became more aggressive, we’ve gone through the whole training/behavior modification stuff which has helped but there does not seem to be a way to keep him from biting permanently. The vet/behaviorists tell us it is genetic and we just have to manage the sitiuation. Is there anyone out there who has tried something different? He is a great dog 95% of the time but his aggression limits us from allowing him to interact freely with other people. My husband is apprehensive around him and all in all, the situation is not ideal. HELP!

Anyone Have Any Experience With The Cockapoo Breed Of Dog?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
Yes, I know it is classified as a mutt. I have been looking at local pounds and from breeders. I’m planning on waiting until my children are 6yrs and 2yrs old. The dog will rarely be left alone and would have a huge yard to romp in and plenty of attention and training. My husband and I have been researching different breeds and if anyone has any experience with this breed (or another that would make a great family dog) I would love to hear from you. Thanks!!
Getting A Cockapoo Puppy?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
We are getting our first family pet, a cockapoo, she will come home in April when she is 8 weeks old. Some training books say that she will need to go out several times in the middle of the night, some say 2 times, some say none? We are crate training her and the training books say do not take her out if she is crying, but how will know if she has to go to the bathroom or just wants out, and what is a reasonable # of times to take a puppy outside in the middle of the night? Please help, this is our first pet!
I’m Trying To Potty Train My 1 Year Old Female Cockapoo!?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
I’ve had my cockapoo since she was 9 weeks old. We started potty training using pee pee pads. She did ok with that but still would go on the floor once in a while. We have been teaching her to go outside now since she was about 4 months old. She goes pee outside but then she’ll come inside and poop. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get her to go to the bathroom outside all the time?? Please help!
How To Kennel Cockapoo When I Have Company And Have Him Not Be So Loud?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
My dog is a pleaser and is kennel trained. BUT he NEEDS to be apart of everything! If we run out to the back yard, he barks up a storm. If I run my daughter to school, he will poop in the house. I can’t leave for 2 mintues without kenneling him. We take him alot of places, and he loves being apart. BUT I can’t even run the garbages outside without him barking SO loud all the neighobors can hear it and he spazs out. If I have company over that doesnt’ like dogs, I kennel him and he barks So loud the whole time I have comapny and we can’t even talk. He NEEDS to be apart of everything. I spray him with water when I have company if he is kenneled. Nothing. I get a cup of water and dump it on him, nothing. I have him totally soaked (water DOES work when he is not so wound up). Than I feel mean because I am QUIET and have totally soaked my dog in his kennel, how do I get him to just BE QUIET and be good when kenneled and I am still in the house (he is quiet if we leave)?

I’m Babysitting My Daughters Cockapoo Who Is 3 Months Old, What’s The Best Way To Potty Train?
Filed under Care & Training Q&As
Also, he was paper trained- but then he EATS the paper- I get him outside and he goes–he of course as a pup, likes to chew EVERYTHING–even our carpet-he rips it out near the tile–not good- caught him chewing on the cell phone charger and trying on other wires-not good–I’m going crazy because everytime I turn around he is into mischief–knocks things off the coffee table chews them, digs in the dirt in my plants- chews the leaves–(moved all toxic plants to my bedroom dressers-diffenbachia)—the vet said to let him smell a treat before you let him outside then praise him when he goes and give him the treat when he comes in—sorry, but he has no CLUE what the treat is for by the time he comes in the house–there must be a better way—need all the advise I can get Oh by the way– my 11 year old female is being tormented because he thinks she is her mother–thank god she tolerates his pulling on her ears!
