WELL!!! You have your panties in a bunch.
I have nothing against people making money mixing breeds. Wish I had started it. I'd have a little change. There is clearly a market for this. And if someone is willing to pay 300.00 plus for a mix breed mutt. That's there money and they can spend it any way they wish.

I just think it's funny that 5 years ago, you could get a "puggle" or some kind of "doodle" at a shelter for $100, but now people pay a lot of money for these "designer" breeds.

To be honest, you are being very rude in your form of "Questioning here and you are considering very few of the issues here.
mixed breeds are often harder to train than pure. The two breeds often have split personalites and are confused..should I run off or stay with my owner?
Mixed breeds often end up with the health problem of both breeds rather than the problems of one.
Health problems like hip displaysia are passed on from the sire. Spay the males from that litter and that line stops.
Purebreed dogs who are undertrained are so because people buy them without researching the breed and understanding it's needs.
Overbreed? Actually, the shelters are eighty percent full of mixed breed dogs. The mixed breeds are the ones people usually abandon.
What we are making here is yes indeed a tempoary fad that will die out. What will people do with those poor dogs then?

I don't really think people are against designer breeds. There is nothing wrong with mutts. There is, however, something wrong with breeding living things for a fad craze. There are too many unwanted dogs in the world already, without thinking you need one that fits in your purse.

The only answer I can come up with...is saving the life of a mutt of mixed breed who is on death row.
I guess some people think everyone should do thier part and adopt a pet who is waiting for a loving home.
There are so many dogs and cats that get killed because some people prefer to buy pure breds. How about one of each?
If you feel guilty about buying a prure bred...which is your choice, just make a donation to your local humane society and save a doggys life.

I think the biggest reason that people are against designer breeds is that when breeding is done it should only be to better the lines, and of course if you are breeding mutts you most certainly are not bettering the lines. That is the only reason I can come up with

If it makes a person feels better or more important by saying that the dog they got from the local Pound is a "rescue dog", or that the mutt they have is a "whateverpoo",,,, no big deal.
But,,, when a person takes a low quality Chocolate Lab and breeds it to a low quality Weimaraner and then passes the puppy's off as "Silver Labs" for $4,000 a puppy, that is the worse form of puppy mill that there is.
Thus the bad rap. Unfortunately that bad rap is deserved as often as not. Primarily because most of these "designer breeds" serve no purpose other than selling puppy's.
Just answer this,, how many designer breeds would work from a duck blind or on a rabbit hunt?? How many of them would serve a farmers needs on a ranch???
Any dog can decorate a couch, but most designer dog can not do anything else.
QUOTE
"I find that MOST purebreds that are purchased are sick in the skull, over bred, under trained" "the mixed react better to training and all that. "
Oh really,, when was the last time you watched a Field Trial or Hunt Test???
The little "pure bred sick in the skull, over bred, under trained" Lab b*tch curled up at my feet is an All Age Qualified Master Hunter, are you really sure you would like to match her trainibility with whatever it is that you breed??

Mixed breeds are mixed breeds and they've been around for years. There are many fine mixed breed dogs and they're the only kind of dog I have ever had.
What people are objecting to, if you read their posts carefully, is the deliberate breeding of crossbreeds, giving them a cutesy name, and announcing that they are a fabulously rare new breed of dog and charging gullible people prices that, as you said, are higher than purebreds cost.
What is worse is the deliberate breeding of two of these crossbreeds with fancy bogus "new breed" names with the intent of making tons of money off the puppies. The whole point of conscientious breeding, pedigrees, and so on is to produce healthy dogs of a predictable appearance and disposition.
